Curriculum Vitae (CV):

Miroslav Premrov enrolled at the Technical Faculty in Maribor, Department of Civil Engineering, in 1987, where he successfully graduated in 1992. He completed a one-year internship at the company Gradis Visoke gradnje Maribor. After successfully completing his master degree, during which he prepared most of his master thesis at Siemens KWU in Offenbach, he enrolled in a doctoral programme in 1996, which he successfully completed in 1998 at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Maribor (FG UM).

In 1999, the Senate of FG UM elected him assistant professor, in 2004 associate professor in the fields of “Timber Structures” and “Mechanics”, and in January 2009 the Senate of the University of Maribor elected him full professor in the fields of “Timber Structures” and “Concrete and Masonry Structures”.

Since 1999, he has been actively involved in the research of reinforcing composite timber elements. He is the author of 40 works indexed by SCI and a reviewer for the most prestigious international journals in the field of structural engineering. He is also co-author of a patent for a reinforced wall element and co-author of a calculation method for determining the horizontal load-bearing capacity of timber frame-panel wall elements, which is in the process of being adopted into Eurocode 5. As a member of WG 5, he actively participates in the preparation of Slovenian standards in the field of timber structures. He co-authored the university textbook “Timber Structures” in 2008, and in 2011 a scientific monograph in English “Experimental analysis on the behaviour of timber-framed walls with different types of sheathing boards”. He is also co-author of two textbooks in the field of timber structures and fundamentals of design.
Since 2010, he has been actively involved in the field of energy-efficient timber-glass constructions. He presented his research and professional work in this field in two international scientific monographs entitled “Architectural design approach for energy efficient timber frame public buildings” (published in 2011) and “Energy-Efficient Timber-Glass Houses”, published in 2013 by Springer Verlag, and was awarded for outstanding scientific achievement in technical sciences by the National Research Agency in 2013. He has so far supervised five PhD students who have successfully completed their studies.

In 2007-2009, he was vice dean for educational activities at UM FGPA, in 2009-2011 he was acting dean, and from 2011 to 2019 dean of the faculty. Since 2017, he has been the Slovenian representative on the Supervisory Board of the European Federation of National Engineering Associations (FEANI).
