Curriculum Vitae (CV):

Dr. Aleš Žnidarič is the director of the Slovenian National Building and Civil Engineering Institute. He obtained his PhD in structural engineering from the University of Ljubljana. He has 34 years of experience in condition and safety assessment of bridges, traffic loading, weigh-in-motion systems, and bridge monitoring. He actively contributed to over 20 international research projects and led several work packages. He coordinated two EC framework projects, CERTAIN from FP6 and TRA2008 CSA from FP7. He is a board member of ISWIM – International Society of Weigh-in-Motion, and a technical committee member of IABMAS – International Association for Bridge Management and Safety and TRB – Transport Research Board (USA). He has been a member of OECD ITF Working Group Policies to extend the life of road assets, five PIARC – World Road Association committees on bridges and represented the Slovenian Infrastructure Agency in the WG Innovation of the European Association of Road Administrations CEDR.

Dr. Aleš Žnidarič chaired the Programme Committees of Transport Research Arena 2008 and the 2018 Slovenian Congress of Transport and Transport Infrastructure. He is a regular Programme Committee member of EPAM (European Pavement and Asset Management Conference), IABMAS (International Conference on Bridge Maintenance, Safety and Management), ICWIM (International Conference on Weigh-in-Motion), and national conferences.

He has published 26 peer-reviewed journal and over 150 conference papers (https://cris.cobiss.net/ecris/si/en/researcher/7100) with over 1500 citations (https://scholar.google.com/citations?hl=en&user=9XZu-Y0AAAAJ). He reviews papers for peer-reviewed journals and has held invited lectures on bridge-related topics in Sweden, the Netherlands, France, Brazil, the USA, Oman, India, and Macedonia.
