Gradbeni vestnik has been published since 1951. Founder and publisher of the journal is the Association of Civil Engineers and Technicians of Slovenia (ZDGITS), co-publisher since 2002 is the Main Section of Civil Engineers at the Slovenian Chamber of Engineers (MSG IZS).

Data on publications in the journal are available in the bibliographic databases COBISS and ICONDA (The Int. Construction Database) and at www.zveza-dgits.si.
Aims & Scope
Gradbeni vestnik occupies a special position in the construction profession, as it is considered the only Slovenian professional-scientific journal collecting the achievements of our construction profession. The journal contributes significantly to the reputation of the Slovenian construction profession, as it is a means of presenting individuals and companies, and also opens the way for young professionals to enter the world of civil engineering. It enables the presentation and invaluable exchange of scientific and professional achievements and improves the level of knowledge about important projects and events. It also contributes to the development and transfer of Slovenian technical terminology and the development of technical culture. In view of all this, the journal is an indispensable part of the promotion of the knowledge of Slovenian civil engineers, and in view of globalization, in addition to scientific and professional value, it also has an invaluable national significance. Given the long tradition and continuity of its publication, Gradbeni vestnik also has a historical value for the construction profession in Slovenia.
The published articles and texts deal with all areas of civil engineering and related activities, in particular:
- the field of civil engineering buildings and structures;
- activities in the fields of planning, analysis and design, construction supervision and control;
- scientific and research and development activities in the aforementioned fields;
- standardisation;
- regulations from the field of planning, design, construction, use and disposal of facilities;
- current problems of civil engineering as an industry;
- vocational education and adult education in the field of civil engineering;
- informing members about the activities and issues of ZDGITS, its members and co-financiers of »Gradbeni vestnik«;
- information about important events, exhibitions and educational seminars relevant to civil engineering;
- notifications on anniversaries and deaths of prominent persons in the field of Slovenian civil engineering;
- data on diploma theses and new graduates of civil engineering at the universities in Ljubljana and Maribor.
Gradbeni vestnik is an open access publication.
The basic area for the distribution of printed copies of the journal is the Republic of Slovenia. Individual printed copies of the journal are also delivered to subscribers abroad and in exchange with related organizations and libraries.
The entire contents of each issue in digital form are freely available to all on the publisher’s website immediately after its publication. All issues of the journal, from 1951 onwards, are kept in the digital archive.
Publication of an article in the journal
Authors do not receive a fee for publishing an article, nor are they charged for publication.
Before publishing an article, authors sign a statement (see section Ethical guidelines for publication and a statement on abuses in publication, paragraph – Authors).
In case of an error in the article, the author must write a correction.
Language
The journal is published in Slovenian, while summaries of articles are also published in English. Articles in the journal are published as scientific or professional articles.
All professional and scientific articles are proofread before publication.
Frequency of publication
As a rule, the journal Gradbeni vestnik is published monthly in printed (ISSN 0017-2774) and digital form (ISSN 2536-4332). Depending on the financial resources and the type of funding, the Executive Board of ZDGITS may change the frequency of publication of the journal.
Reviews
All professional and scientific articles are reviewed by anonymous reviewers.
Reviews are unilaterally anonymous, meaning that the author does not know the name of the reviewer, and the reviewer knows the name of the author of the article. The review process is the same for scientific and professional articles.
Reviewer’s comments are forwarded by the Editorial Board to the author of the article for review and addition.
Reviews are not subject to a charge.
Open access
Gradbeni vestnik is an open access journal published under the terms of the Creative Commons licence CC BY-NC-SA 4.0. The content of the journal is freely available in digital form on the publisher’s website immediately after its publication.
All users are permitted unrestricted non-commercial use of the articles and their distribution and reproduction in any medium, provided the authors and the source of the original text are cited. When reusing or distributing an original work, users must also clearly indicate the terms of use under which the original work was published.
Ethical guidelines for publication and a statement of abuse in publication
All those involved in the concept and publication of Gradbeni vestnik are committed to ensuring the highest ethical standards for publication in the journal, which are summarized according to the principles of COPE – Committee on Publication Ethics.
– Editors:
The members of the editorial board and the authors of articles are independent and autonomous in their work within the program concept. The Editorial Board is chaired by the Editor-in-Chief. The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for all published information, except where required otherwise by law. He/she is ethically responsible for the published texts. His/her decision must be impartial (independent of gender, sexual orientation, religious and political beliefs and the ethical or geographic origin of the authors) and based on an assessment of the quality, professional value and relevance of the publication to the scientific and professional public. He/she must comply with editorial guidelines and all legal regulations, especially those dealing with copyright and plagiarism. Thus, it is also his/her responsibility to monitor the ethical conduct of authors and reviewers.
In case of suspicion of irregularities in the received articles, the Editor-in-Chief must inform the author of the article about his/her doubts and give him/her the opportunity to provide reasonable explanations. Anyone may report a breach of ethics in writing to the editor and / or publisher of the journal at any time. Any complaint of unethical conduct will be handled and investigated according to the same procedure, even if it is filed several years after the publication in question.
– Reviewers
The expert opinion of the reviewers helps the Editorial Board to decide whether to publish an article and the authors to improve the submitted article.
The content of an article received by the selected reviewer for review is a confidential document, about which the reviewer must maintain secrecy. The review must be impartial (independent of gender, sexual orientation, religious and political beliefs, and the ethical or geographic origin of the authors), objective and sound.
The reviewer must identify a scientifically or professionally important work. He/she is required to point out with adequate explanations the content that is not properly cited.
In case of a conflict of interest (kinship with the author, other relations and connections with the author, co-authorship of an article, financial benefits), the reviewer is obliged to withdraw from the review process.
A reviewer who believes that he / she cannot adequately evaluate the scientific or professional content of an article or will not be able to do so in a timely manner is required to inform the Editor-in-Chief and withdraw from the review process.
When reviewing, the reviewer fills out the review form.
– Authors
Before publishing an article, the authors declare that they are aware that the content of the journal is freely and openly available on the Internet.
They confirm with a statement that their article is an original work that has not yet been published in another publication and is not in the process of such publication, that the article does not violate any copyrights of third parties and that any co-authors agree to the publication of the article and are jointly responsible for its content.
They do not receive a fee for publishing an article, nor are they charged for publication.
Authors of articles are responsible for the accuracy and precision of the published data. Data, statements, ideas and findings taken from other sources must be indicated or cited accordingly. When publishing third-party images, they must obtain the consent of the copyright holder.
Deliberate dissemination of false information and plagiarism in all its forms constitute a violation of ethical conduct and are unacceptable.
Authors should indicate any potential conflicts of interest that could bias the results and findings in their article.
If an author discovers an error or irregularity in his/her work, he/she must inform the editor or publisher of the journal and prepare a correction.
