TOWN PLANNING PERSPECTIVES
(With a view to the earthquake in Skopje)
Summary
The author deals with the problem how to renew the destroyed Skopje, states the necessary consequences of such earthquake disaster on the town planning in seismo zones of our country. This earthquake in Skopje suggested numerous discussions among the experts in our country and abroad, dealing with the mistakes and incorrect town planning design, irrespective the possible elementary destroying forces. The problem of Skopje is treated by distinguished world experts with many experiences gained according to the earthquakes in Japan, Soviet Union, Mediterranean, and South Africa.
It should be noted that many distinguished world architects and town planning experts are interested in the problem of the building of the new town.
Besides the adequate town planning, a thorough study of earthquake resistant construction systems and adequate building materials is the most important. The new building and constructions shall be earthquake resistant so that on the occasion of eventual earthquake the human life and property would be safe as much as possible.
