APPLICATION OF STATISTICAL METHODS IN THE BUILDING INDUSTRY
Synopsis
Whenever in the building industry a mass of experimental data is available one is faced with the problem of control resp. the analysis and interpretation of data obtained. The quality control of build:'ng materials (reinforcing iron, cement, concrete, brick, prefabricated elements etc.) provides an wide field of application of statistical methods. This article restricts the application of statistical methods to the analysis and interpretation of results obtained in the inspection of quality resp. the strength of test cubes of concrete.
The author presents in some detail the theory of statistical methods including the corresponding calculations used in different instances. He also quotes the foreign prescriptions and practice concerning the quality control of concrete, particularly those of the USA and West Germany. Finally, the test results obtained by means of statistical methods from 10 series of 3 test cubes are analysed and presented in graphical form.
