Use of the electronic computer to evaluate the bearing capacity of compressed bars
Synopsis
Exposed is a numerical method to determine the deformations of both side articulated and compressed bars with the simultaneous influence of the transverse loading. The theory of second order is taken into account. This is a method known in the USA as the Newmark’s method for the determination of deflection
curve. Expressed in a matrix form the method is suitable for the computation with the powerful electronic computers. The influence of the elasto-plasticity is expressed in terms of an correcting factor of the specific torsion. Iteration method of calculation is used.
