RAILWAY DEVELOPMENT IN SR SLOVENIA

Synopsis
The author deals with the problem of the railway development in SR Slovenia from the standpoint of their technical development and changed management.
The railways are staying behind the normal technical development that result in bad services and high operation expences. The modernization of railways in SR Slovenia is therefore urgent.
In connection with the rapid development of other transport means the author thinks it necessary to change the bases of railway management. Railways should operate as economical organization, discharged with the uncontemporary obligations to the public, and made eaqual with other traffic branches with regard to formation of transport costs. The system of tariffs, bound to the validity of the transported goods

In connection with the rapid development of other transport means the author thinks it necessary to change the bases of railway management. The system of tariffs, bound to the validity of the transported goods and constant according to time and place, is growing impossible.

In the field of the internal management the author thinks that the business decentralization is necessary and could be carried out without a damage to operation and management. The way how to find out the total income of transport enterprises and internal income distribution should be introduced, consequently according to the part taken into the effective work.

The author thinks that the mentioned changes would make a good effect on the economically sound development of transport branches. Besides that, they would enlighten the problem of excessive and unprofitable transport capacities and completely direct the development of this branch of national economy to the reduction of expences.

The concrete arrangements that should be carried out are stated at the end of the paper.
