THE RAILWAY LINE PREŠNICA-KOPER

Synopsis
The author deals with the problem of the railway construction that would joint the town Koper with Jugoslav railway lines. First project designs date from 1950. In 1954 the Railway Direction Ljubljana ordered the program design with 15 variations made according to the various technical characteristics. Variation No 9 was admitted: Koper—Rižana—Hrastovlje—Dol—Podpeč—Črnotiči—Prešnica. In the beginning of January 1964 all terrain works, necessary for the carrying out of the main projection, were finished.
The admitted variation has the best geological conditions of all variations. It is designed for the speed of 70 km/h. Earth works will amount to 650.000 cu. m. There will have to be built the following objects: 6 bridges, 4 overbridges and 350 m of supporting walls. The underground waters will require large drainage works. The total investment expences amount 6.000 milion dinars. Maximal ascent is 26 %o, railway line length amounts 31 km.
