Synopsis

The problem of the resistance of concrete is a rather complicated one for which, neither by the way of physics nor mechanics could be found a satisfactory solution. There is a number of hypoteses on the destruction processes of structural materials. The proper resistance of materials depends upon the simultaneous action of the mutually perpendicular stresses, and a firm law uniting the principal stresses in a resulting one could not be found as yet. The authoi describes the application of a method with ultra sound impulses for non-destructive testing of concrete and considers its advantages. He discusses in detail the ultra sound method including all necessary account prerequisites.
