On the process of hydration of cement
Synopsis
The article is concerned with the process of reactions of different components of cement with water. Considered are in detail the hydration processes taking course with the clinker minerals, calcium silicates and aluminates as well as the cement admixtures: plaster, slag, tuff and flyashes. Exposed is the structure of the hydration products. Stressed is the
connection between the reaction of hydration and cement-viz concrete properties. An accurate knowledge of the composition of cement and hydration reactions permits a more adequate choice of cement type and a better complying with the requirements of the fabrication and utilisation of the concrete.
