Povzetek
Prispevek opisuje uzakonjen pristop, uporabljen na Novi Zelandiji z namenom, da se v določenem časovnem obdobju zmanjša število obstoječih potresno neodpornih stavb. Pristop je razdeljen v več faz: določitev prioritet pri ocenjevanju; začetni proces ocenjevanja, s katerim se definirajo potencialno potresno neodporne stavbe; detajlna analiza potresno neodporne stavbe; določitev stavbe kot potresno neodporne; ojačevanje stavbe. Temu postopku je individualno podvržena večina stavb na Novi Zelandiji z izjemami, kot so enoetažne stanovanjske hiše in stanovanjske hiše z manj kot tremi stanovanjskimi enotami, stavbe za kmetijstvo, mostovi, spomeniki ... V prispevku so prikazane tudi vzporednice s stanjem v Republiki Sloveniji.

NEW ZEALAND APPROACH TO REDUCE THE NUMBER OF EXISTING EARTHQUAKE PRONE BUILDINGS
Summary
This paper describes New Zealand legislative approach to identifying earthquake prone buildings and reduce the risk of earthquake related damage over a specified period of time. The earthquake prone building process consists of several stages: identification completed on a priority basis, initial evaluation process to determine if a building is potentially earthquake prone, detailed engineering evaluation of the building, classification of the building as earthquake prone, building strengthening. Buildings subject to this process include the majority of the buildings in New Zealand with the exception of single storey residential buildings and residential buildings containing less than three household units, farm buildings, bridges, monuments, etc. The paper shows comparison with the current situation in regard to potentially earthquake prone buildings in the Republic of Slovenia.
