Hydroelectric power plant SD 1 on the Drava river

Synopsis
SD 1 (Srednja Drava 1 — Middle Drava 1) is the seventh hydroelectric power plant on the river Drava in Slovenia. As the Maribor downstream unit it will join to a chain of upstream hydroelectric power plants, that are already in operation.
It is a derivate type of power plant. Behind the dam there will be a small accumulative lake that will be spread through Maribor to the Maribor Island hydroelectric power plant. The powerhouse will be supplied with the dam water through the 17 km long access tunnel with a trapezoid profile and with asphalt concrete lining. In a standard roofed powerhouse there are two aggregates with Kaplan's turbines. Water flows away through 6 km long discharge canal empty-
ing itself into the river Drava just above Ptuj. The switchyard of 110 Kv with transformers is situated upstream from powerhouse and above the intake wells.
SD 1 is profiting of a brutto flow of 33 m. Installed power amounts 126 MW. an average year production is 681 GWh. Necessary investment building cots were 23.66 milliard dinars, investment quotient being 187.000 dinars/KW, resp. 34.7 dinars/KWh. Cost price of power is 2.25 dinars/KWh. According to indicators SD 1 is one of the most economical transfusing hydroelectric power plants: its value is being increased by the great production in summer and by the possibility of the transfusing accumulation in other months of the year.
